Letter: Thanks from the Snoqualmie firefighter pancake breakfast

The Snoqualmie Firefighters Association thanks all our Snoqualmie Valley residents, contributors and volunteers for their continued support and patronage through the years of our annual pancake breakfast and silent auction. This year’s event, Aug. 20, was a huge success with record setting attendance.

The Snoqualmie Firefighters Association thanks all our Snoqualmie Valley residents, contributors and volunteers for their continued support and patronage through the years of our annual pancake breakfast and silent auction. This year’s event, Aug. 20, was a huge success with record setting attendance.

The Snoqualmie Firefighters Association (SFFA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which helps support the Snoqualmie Fire Department with special equipment purchases, community events, public safety and fire education, human service assistance, scholarships in health and fire sciences, historic preservation and maintenance of Snoqualmie’s original Engine 1 and charitable donations within our community.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to family members and friends for their continuous commitment to the fire department and Firefighters Association.

A special thanks to generous contributors, the Ridge IGA Supermarket, Snoqualmie Valley School District, Snoqualmie Ridge TPC, Duvall Firefighters Association, Starbucks, Sigillo Cellars, Dirtfish, Brown & Sterling, Snoqualmie Ridge Keybank, Krispy Kreme, Snoqualmie Valley Hospital, Woodman, Carmichael’s Hardware, SnoFalls Brewery, NW Railway Museum and Piccola Cellars.

We again achieved a specific goal this year by “Thinking Green,” an effort led by Chief Mark Correira and his family. A sustainability partnership was formed between the department and Waste Management. With guidance from Waste Management, the association provided only compostable plates and utensils, to recycle or compost most of the waste from the event. They collected 314 pounds of waste, 50 pounds of which was recycled, 259 pounds composted and 5 pounds went into the trash, for an incredible 98 percent diversion rate.

Thank you all for helping to make the Snoqualmie Firefighters Association’s annual event such a success!

Catherine (Cat) Cotton, Snoqualmie Fire Dept. EMT/VolunteerSnoqualmie Firefighters Association Officer
