Thanks to the marvelous support of the community at the ballot box last week, the Snoqualmie Valley Schools bond proposition is passing by a robust margin — 67 percent “yes.”

This strong showing, during what is a difficult economic time for many, is indicative of this community’s support for its schools and the children who attend them.

The facilities improvements funded through this proposition will strengthen our schools and our community. The community’s investment in its schools will enable us to maintain the structural integrity of existing facilities and provide additional classroom space at Mount Si High School to alleviate the overcrowding that exists there. This investment in the schools will also strengthen our community, as schools are considered by many to be a central component of a strong and vibrant community.

Most importantly, the young people of the Snoqualmie Valley, the students attending our schools today and in the years to come, will benefit as they learn, grow and develop their talents in facilities that are safe, secure and functional.

On behalf of the students who attend our schools, I thank you again for supporting this important bond proposition. As we move forward with the facilities improvements funded by this bond, I encourage you to visit the school district Web site, www.svsd410.org, and view the progress as the work unfolds to repair and upgrade our school facilities.
