Grange's work is for the common wealth
October 3, 2008 · Updated 2:42 AM
Sallal Grange members are again holding an open house at their hall (12912 432nd Ave. S.E., North Bend) on Thursday evening, April 20, starting at 7:30 p.m. A historical video about Snoqualmie Falls, the city, narrated by Harley Brumbaugh, will be presented. After the video there will be a discussion period. It will be a chance for citizens in the area to acquaint themselves with our past.
There will also be literature presented about the grange, both Sallal and the Washington State grange. Please come and join us at this very entertaining and informative event. No pressure will be put on you to join the grange and the literature will not be forced upon you. We do want you to understand that the Grange is a very fine organization.
During a membership drive, member Emma West wrote a little jingle, which was read into the record on Oct. 23, 1939:
"Some folks think the grange a joke.
But we do not agree.
If they would only join the grange
We're sure they'd quickly see
The work is for the common weal
For the whole community."
Today's grange members still agree with that sentiment.
Phone me at (425) 888-3130 for more information about our open meeting. Besides the entertaining video, refreshments will be served and there is no charge for attendance.
Hope to see you there.
