Vote for hospital levy
I feel compelled to respond to the letter "Hospital needs to deliver basics first" in the July 18 issue.
When people think of a hospital, they most often think of somewhere you go when you need your annual physical, or need to treat an ear infection, cough, cold, or some other non-life-threatening illness. Well, what about when someone has a life-threatening situation? It only makes sense to put the hospital in a location where it can be accessed by the greatest number of people in the quickest manner. Interstate 90 and Highway 18 is that location.
Snoqualmie Valley Hospital (SVH) will most likely have a radio in the new hospital. In the meantime, doesn't it make sense to just pick up your cell phone and call (425) 831-2300, which is answered 24 hours a day?
Did you know that it is actually faster for someone to go to Overlake Hospital by stopping through Snoqualmie Valley Hospital? SVH uses digital imaging and electronic medical records and shares them with Overlake, resulting in direct patient transfer. It's amazing what can be done these days.
SVH has some history, which has not been the best. However, things have dramatically changed. Call them up and ask for a tour.
SVH has done a lot for this community. They do deliver the basic services expected of the community - and even more. They have a plan. They have some land. I encourage you to vote in favor of the SVH levy lid lift.
