I want to thank Mount Si High School Principal Randy Taylor, Snoqualmie Valley School District Superintendent Joel Aune and the members of the school board for clearly stating last Thursday night at the board meeting that you intend to have our schools be safe and inclusive for all students, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students.

It was no doubt a difficult statement to make, and one that will produce some uncomfortable repercussions from those who would exclude those students, but it was the right thing to do.

I applaud your stand and your courage.

Since you are clear that the Day of Silence will be held, let me offer my services as a non-participant hall monitor to help ensure that the day goes as uneventfully as we all would like.
