Support fund-raiser Oct. 7: Buy Safari's Pizza
I am about to begin training for a 26-mile marathon that will be
in March and will start training on Oct. 9. The more people that tell me I
can't do it, the more determined I am to do it. I'll be walking for the
Leukemia Society and will soon begin the fund raising. So for now I think I'll go
out and have a couple of last hurrahs before our group-training sessions begin.
There's nothing like little nieces and nephews to talk you into doing
fun little things. Last weekend I found myself searching for potato bugs,
doing somersaults in the yard and playing in the park and feeding ducks
with Katie and Eddie. My other niece Emily talked me into going on a roller
coaster at the Puyallup Fair, which I will never ever do again. I am a big chicken
when it comes to scary rides but decided to try this one because it was hot and
the roller coaster went through water. I do not like that intense scary feeling
How about this yummy low fat recipe which tastes great on
these cooler autumn evenings? Golden chicken and autumn vegetables.
Cook four skinless breast halves in nonstick skillet until browned. Add 1 c.
chicken broth;1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley; 1/2 tsp. dried rosemary leaves; 1/4
tsp. dried thyme leaves, crushed; 1/4 tsp. garlic powder; 1 large sweet
potato, cut up; and 1 c. fresh or frozen whole green beans. Heat to a boil. Cover
and cook over low heat 20 minutes or until done.
"Of all the things you wear, your smile is the most important."
It happened this week: The Beatles' first hit "Love me do"
came out in 1962, the first Lassie film premiered at Radio City Music Hall
in 1943 and Kathy Sullivan became the first American woman to walk in
space in 1984.
Colds and flu seem to be hitting people already. What a fun way
to begin fall! A good way to get rid of a tickle in your throat is to steep
honey, cloves and lemon in hot water and sip away that nasty cough.
I keep looking at Sparky half expecting a space creature to jump
out of his little orange body because he has become so mellow and slow
and even cuddles up with Molly on occasion. I'm not used to his new
mellow state of mind and sometimes I kind of miss the obnoxious side of him.
Molly is 19 years old now so I am not ready to have another of my beloved cats
get old on me.
Don't forget to have Safari's pizza on Thursday, Oct. 7, to support
the SES pizza night fund-raiser. I think it is so great that a local business is
willing to have these fund-raisers, and they have great pizza to boot!
