Who would have thought just a few, short years ago, a tall, lanky,

track star from Mount Si High School would run a 5K race in Brussels,

Belgium, on Aug. 5, 2000, that would allow the virtually unknown runner to be

the third Oregon Duck to clinch a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team in the

5,000-meter race?

Nick Roger's 13:18:50 time is the 14th highest all-time American

posting. He will be going to Sydney on the 15th of September.

Everyone wish him luck at the Olympics 2000. Special thanks

to Christine Jenner and crew.
