Fall City market story misleading

I am disappointed to read the misleading articles written on Nov. 22, 2006, regarding the Family Market located in Fall City. Upon reading them I am left with a feeling that the Stevens had little to no prior notice to evict from property that they owned. The terms "ownership" and "lease" have totally different connotations.

It is my understanding that the Stevens were leasing the property all these years and had five-10 years notice of lease non-renewal. Furthermore, I am left with the impression that Jim McKiernan doesn't even know the owners since he refers to them as "whoever." I wonder how much trouble it would be to find and talk to the owners to verify information before it's published.

Editors note: the Stevens Family Market business was owned by the Stevens family, who leased the building in which it was housed. The Valley Record plans to report plans for the building when they are announced.
