Emma Jean (Satterlee) McCurry

Emma Jean McCurry, age 92, of Fall City, died Friday, April 8, 2016. At her request no services will be held.

Born Emma Jean Satterlee November 19, 1923, in Fall City, she graduated from Fall City High School and loved everything Fall City, where she resided most of her life.

Emma married Julius (Duke) McCurry in July, 1942. After the war they owned and operated Fall City Feed and Building Materials from 1948 to 1966. Emma drove school bus in Fall City, later worked as a counselor at and retired from Echo Glen Children’s Center and volunteered at Friends of Youth in Issaquah, as well as foster parenting several children she met there.

She was an avid gardener, loved snowbirding to Arizona and enjoyed taking cruises. Emma always looked forward to attending her Fall City High School class reunions with her dearest friend, Janet Ewing, at Les Mortons’s place on Raging River. She was an active contributor to the Fall City Historical Society.

Emma who was preceded in death by her husband Duke (1986), is survived by her sons Dean (wife Sue) and Daryl (husband Leo) both of California, two granddaughters Michele (McCurry) Becker (husband Ike) of Portland, OR and Denise (McCurry) Rigli (husband Mike) of Martinez, CA and two great-grandchildren Ruby Rose Becker and Jackson Daniel Rigli.

She will be greatly missed by her family both immediate and extended including nieces and nephews: Marette Satterlee of Milton, WA, Nancy Skinner of Shoreline, WA, Alan Spjut of North Bend, OR, Jeff Satterlee of Las Vegas, NV, and Kevin Satterlee of Stafford, OR.

The family asks that any remembrances in honor of Emma be sent to the Fall City Historical Society.
