DR. JOHN ROBERT CASTLE

On May 6, 2017 Dr. John Robert Castle Sc.D., of Snoqualmie, WA passed away after a heroic battle with cancer. John was 78 years young. He is survived by his wife Cynthia, 5 children, Leslie Landry(David), Lisa McConnell, Philip Castle, Michael Castle, and David Castle(Claudia), 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Henry Castle(Gerri) and Richard Castle(Punn) and George Diehl(Judith) along with numerous friends, colleagues, and students.

John retired from teaching at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington and Seattle University after a long and successful consulting career. He taught in the Entrepreneurship programs at both universities. He served on the board of Encompass Northwest for a number of years. He loved spending time with all of his family and friends. The Cascade mountains held a special place in John’s heart and he spent many happy days either hiking or snowshoeing up there. He also loved his golf and was a member at The Snoqualmie Golf Club for the past several years.

John impacted every life he ever came across. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by so many people.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory to the “Seattle University Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center” would be appreciated. Donations will support the Dr. John Castle Sc.D. Special Recognition Award created by Jeff and Aleksandra Widmyer. Jeff was a former student of John’s. The award will be presented annually to a competitor in the Harriet B. Stephenson Business Plan Competition in recognition of the spirit and hard work of a new business venture showing special potential for success.
