Letter: Fire districts appreciate voter participation in November election

I want to thank voters for participating in the recent election. Our efforts to combine King County Fire Districts 10 and 38 fell just short of the 60 percent required for passage. While we’re disappointed, we appreciate every person who participated in this important election.

Fire Districts 10 and 38 will continue to participate in Eastside Fire & Rescue, a regional partnership to provide fire and life safety services with three neighboring cities. Long-term, we will need to address funding issues to maintain emergency service levels. We will continue to communicate with the homeowners and businesses we serve and include them in the decision-making process.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

Commissioner Mike Mitchell

Chair, Eastside Fire Authority
