Snoqualmie Valley students to gain access to KCLS electronic resources

The Snoqualmie Valley School District and King County Library System (KCLS) have formed a new partnership in an effort to increase student access to online resources.

KCLS will be creating library accounts in its system for all Snoqualmie Valley School District students so they may seamlessly log in from school, home or from any computer or device.

The student accounts will include each student’s school ID number, preceded by the school district number, 410.

Students will be able to use the library’s databases, downloadable materials and online homework help services offered without needing a physical card. Since students will only be able to access electronic materials, it won’t be necessary for the to track due dates.

Snoqualmie Valley School District will filter all student-facing content to be sure it’s appropriate for school. If students access the materials outside the school district, the material will not be filtered.

Students who already have KCLS library cards can continue to use them to check out materials from the public library and use in-library computers.

This new arrangement will supplement the traditional library card and improve each student’s ability to access KCLS online research tools.

Teachers throughout the district can also use the many resources available through KCLS.

The accounts will be launched in mid-January for all students, Kindergarten through 12th grade.

To opt out, families should log into their Family Access accounts and complete the “KCLS Opt Out form” by Jan. 6. Learn more at www.svsd410.org.
