Open house on I-90 peak-use shoulder lane project is Thursday in Issaquah

The Washington State Department of Transportation is inviting people who use Interstate 90 between Bellevue and Issaquah to learn more about a new project to help improve travel times during the morning and afternoon commutes on the eastside. The event, 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 29 at Tibbets Creek Manor, 750 17th Ave. NW, Issaquah, will discuss the I-90 Eastgate to State Route 900 Peak-Use Shoulder Lane Project.

Community members will have the opportunity to learn about the latest plans for this stretch of the corridor, which will include a peak-use shoulder lane in the westbound direction between SR 900 and Eastgate, and an eastbound auxiliary lane between Eastgate and Lakemont Boulevard.

No formal presentation is planned; the open house is an opportunity to talk with agency staff and provide input on design. Participants may come and go throughout the event.

This project was funded as part of the Connecting Washington funding package in 2015. Construction is expected to begin in late 2018 with the lanes open to traffic in early 2020.
