One dead after bus collides into disabled vehicle on I-90

Female passenger transported to Overlake with minor injuries.

One person is dead and another injured after a bus traveling from Minnesota to Vancouver, British Columbia, struck a disabled Subaru Legacy on Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie early Friday, March 22.

Authorities initially got called at 5:40 a.m. about a vehicle blocking a lane on east I-90 and two minutes later received the call that a collision had happened, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson. The bus, traveling west, did not see the vehicle in time to avoid striking it.

The driver of the struck vehicle— a male, said to be wearing a seat belt — died in the collision. His female passenger was transported to Overlake Medical Center. The female bus driver, the only person on the bus, was not injured and no impairment was reported.

The investigation remains ongoing. The scene was cleared and all lanes reopened at about 10 a.m.
