King County updates on Tolt Hill Bridge

Construction is set to begin on April 23.

Repair work on the Tolt Hill Bridge 1834A, where Northeast Tolt Hill Road crosses the Snoqualmie River, west of the city of Carnation, is scheduled to begin on April 23.

Set-up, including the staging of equipment and materials, begins today. The repair work includes retrofitting truss joints, replacing bolts with higher strength bolts, and adding new bolts and splice plates.

During construction, beginning April 23, one lane will be open for motorists to cross the bridge. A signal will be set up to alternate the direction of traffic across the bridge. The signal will be in place 24/7 while work is being performed. A one-week full closure of the bridge will occur during the summer. The exact dates of the full closure have yet to be determined. The public will be provided with notification two weeks prior to the full closure.

The repair work is expected to finish this fall. The current six-ton load restriction will remain in place during construction. Once the repair work is complete, the weight restriction on the bridge will be lifted. Please visit the Tolt Hill Bridge Emergency Repairs webpage for more information and updates.
