Human remains found near Snoqualmie Parkway, identified only as a man who died in the last 6 to 12 months

The remains of an unknown man, believed to have died in the last year, were recovered Friday morning from a wooded area north of S.R. 202 and the Snoqualmie Parkway.

“It was all the way back there, almost to the river,” said Snoqualmie Police Capt. Nick Almquist, the department spokesperson, of the location of the remains.

Snoqualmie police were notified at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, that the remains had been found. A crew hired to survey possible trail sites for the proposed Snoqualmie Riverwalk project was the first to find the bones and alert the police.

The King County Medical Examiner and the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab are investigating the incident and have indicated that the deceased was a man, and he died between six and 12 months ago, but there is little other identifying information.

Capt. Almquist said the remains, along with clothing and a small pull-behind cart were strung out over a small area, about 200 yards from S.R. 202.

The deceased will be identified by the Medical Examiner, he added, and until the police know more about the victim and the circumstances of his death, there is not much to investigate.

“We don’t have any open missing persons cases here,” that would fit the case either, he said.
