Construction starts today on new Mount Teneriffe Trailhead

The DNR broke ground on the Mount Teneriffe Trailhead Monday, Feb. 27.

The new trailhead, designed to improve access to Teneriffe, as well as the Mount Si Trail with eventual access to the CCC and Middle Fork areas planned, will include parking for more than 100 cars.

The proposed design includes preserved forested areas around the trailhead, additional evergreen trees and vegetation, and landscaped areas in the parking area to keep the natural character of the site, located in the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area.

Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The construction is expected to wrap up by June 30.

This spring, DNR will also be renovating a lower-elevation trail to provide better connections between the Little Si, Mount Si and the Mount Teneriffe trail systems.

The new Mount Teneriffe Trailhead will improve access to Mount Teneriffe’s hiking opportunities, which include summit viewpoints and waterfall locations.

The Mount Teneriffe Trailhead is a priority project from the recently adopted Snoqualmie Corridor Recreation Plan, released in March 2015, and available online at http://file.dnr.wa.gov/publications/amp_snoqualmie_corridor_rec_plan_20150319.pdf.

Developed with local input, this plan is intended to guide DNR in developing and managing recreation in the area over the next 10-15 years.
