Car thieves cause head-on collision in North Bend; Two women to face charges of vehicle theft and assault

Snoqualmie police have arrested two women who assaulted a driver and attacked him with pepper spray to steal his car Wednesday, Feb. 15, in North Bend. They will be charged with vehicle theft, robbery, assault, and fleeing the scene of a vehicle accident, following a short ride in the stolen vehicle.

The incident began in the 600 block of North Bend Way at about 12:35 p.m., when police received a report of a stolen vehicle. The two women hit the driver with pepper spray to gain control of his car, then drove off.

A short time later, a Snoqualmie police officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle sped over an embankment to avoid the officer. It was later found, after a head-on collision with another vehicle, near SE 140th Street and North Bend Way.

The two women ran from the accident, but were captured by the police, with the help of a citizen passing by.

The driver in the second car was transported to Overlake Hospital and is in stable condition.
