Blotter: Stop sign theft stopped in North Bend; Pumpkin prowlers damage car in Snoqualmie

Police and fire agencies in the Snoqualmie Valley responded to the following calls:

Sunday, Oct. 30

Theft: At 4:43 p.m., a caller in the 400 block of S.W. Mount Si Boulevard, North Bend, reported that three minutes earlier, a man and women left the store with bag full of shoplifted items. The caller said she knew the man had taken some alcohol and she had gotten one bottle back before he left, but didn’t know what else was stolen.

Monday, Oct. 31

Theft: At 2 p.m., a caller in Better Way Loop S.E., Snoqualmie, reported that three potted plants had been stolen from his yard overnight.

Harassment: At 2:47 p.m., a caller complained to police that a group of transients were loitering in front of a building in the 3800 block of S.E. River Street, Snoqualmie. The caller also said that a woman in the group had harassed her daughter as she was walking and became aggressive.

Stop sign attempt: At 8 p.m., police received a call about a group of kids trying to steal a stop sign in the 200 block of Bendigo Boulevard, S., North Bend. The subjects were gone when police arrived and the sign was still in place.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

Loose cow: At 3:03 p.m., police received a report that a cow was standing on Bendigo Boulevard, N., North Bend, apparently trying to cross the road near the Tollgate Farmhouse. An officer responded and contacted the owners, who wrangled the cow back home.

Mischief: At 7:42 p.m., a caller on Main Avenue N., North Bend, reported to police that the previous night, someone had siphoned gas from his vehicle and damaged the gas cap cover.

Thursday, Nov. 3

Car prowl: At 8:31 a.m., a caller on Raven Avenue S.E., Snoqualmie, reported that someone had gotten into two vehicles left unlocked on the street and stolen some items. Nothing of value was taken.

Pumpkin Vandalism: At 11:31 p.m., a caller on Douglas Avenue S.E., Snoqualmie, reported that someone had thrown pumpkins at his car, breaking his windshield and denting the bumper.

Monday, Nov. 7

Smoke: At 10:15 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to the area of Jacobia Avenue S.E. for a report of smoke coming from an unknown direction. The crew arrived to find a large column of smoke coming from the area off S.E. 96th, just outside of city boundaries. They investigated and found a homeowner attempting to burn a 20-by-20-foot pile of yard debris, using gasoline to accelerate the burning. The debris was wet and causing a lot of smoke. Firefighters advised the homeowner about burning regulations within King County. He agreed to reduce the size of the pile.

Alarm: At 4:03 p.m., firefighters responded to the Venture Commerce Center for a reported automatic fire alarm in Building C. They arrived to find the building evacuated, but no sign of fire. An occupant said workers had been rendering chemicals to manufacture cosmetics when the smoke detector was set off. The work area had no ventilation system.

Tuesday, Nov. 8

House fire: At 5:04 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded with Snoqualmie Pass Fire Department and Eastside Fire &Rescue for a fully involved residential fire on Alpental Strasse. The home, reportedly unoccupied, was a total loss. The fire is being investigated by the King County Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Unit.

Cooking fire: At 8:39 a.m., the department was dispatched to an appliance fire on S.E. Swenson Drive. A resident said some food that had been left on the stove caught fire, but the flames were extinguished by the time the crew arrived.

Medical aid: In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 10 medical aid incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date to 960.

Thursday, Nov. 3

Accident: At 3:37 p.m., Fall City firefighters responded with a unit from the Snoqualmie Fire Department for a motor vehicle accident in which a pedestrian was struck and injured. The patient was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Saturday, Nov. 5

Welfare check: At 6:47 p.m., Fall City firefighters checked on a 25-year-old patient who was experiencing feelings of self-harm. The patient was taken to a local hospital for psychological care and treatment.

Sunday, Nov. 6

Breathing trouble: At 12:49 a.m., Fall City firefighters assisted a 73-year-old man who was experiencing shortness of breath. He was evaluated on scene and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Monday, Nov. 7

Respiratory distress: At 4:05 a.m., the department responded to a 69-year-old woman who was in respiratory distress. She was further evaluated and treated by medics from the Bellevue Fire Department, then taken to a local hospital.

Bad fall: At 10:25 a.m., firefighters assisted a 66-year-old patient who had fallen and was feeling dizzy and nauseated. The patient was taken to a local hospital.

Back injury: At 12:30 p.m., Fall City firefighters saw a 33-year-old man who had injured his back and was unable to move. The patient was extricated from his home and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Unresponsive: 4:55 p.m., the department was called to treat an intoxicated, unresponsive woman. She was evaluated by medics from the Bellevue Fire Department, and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Tuesday, Nov. 8

Campfire: At 10:26 a.m., the department was called to an illegal campfire on the bank of the Snoqualmie River. The fire was extinguished.

False alarm: At 1:45 p.m., Fall City firefighters were called to a commercial structure for an automatic fire alarm. The alarm’s sensors were determined to be dirty, causing the false alarm.

High blood pressure: At 5:29 p.m., firefighters saw a 66-year-old patient who walked in to the fire station complaining of high blood pressure. The patient was taken to a hospital.
