Budget cuts pull Fall City ballot box
February 2, 2010 · 1:28 PM
The King County Elections Department has pulled its ballot drop box out of the Valley due to budget cuts.
The county maintained a ballot box at Fall City Library, on Southeast 42nd Place, as late as the Nov. 3, 2009, general election. But the county’s massive budget cuts led the county to close almost all of its drop boxes as of the Feb. 9 election.
Elections office spokeswoman Kim Van Ekstrom said the department had to make cuts without impacting elections. The drop boxes
are now in safe storage.
The nearest drop box is now at the county’s accessible voting center at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Avenue N.E. It will be staffed from 8: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Ballots can also be dropped off anytime at election headquarters, 9010 East Marginal Way S., Tukwila, and the King County Administration Building, 500 4th Ave, Seattle.
