North Bend’s Boalch Bridge has reopened almost seven months after it was closed for necessary repairs.

The bridge, which opened Monday, June 1, was determined to be at or near failure during a routine inspection of bridges by King County in November.

Environmental issues with the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River slowed the repair work down and added to the final cost. King County finished the roadwork.

The city chose to do repairs — expected to last 15 years — rather than a full reconstruction because of the economic recession, North Bend city administrator Duncan Wilson said.
