North Bend set to party
June 9, 2009 · Updated 1:51 PM
More than 30 businesses are joining the city of North Bend to celebrate its centennial and showcase downtown.
Downtown North Bend will close to street traffic on Saturday, June 27, for the first-ever Downtown Block Party.
North Bend Way will close from 4 to 10 p.m. from Bendigo Boulevard to Ballarat Avenue.
The party includes live entertainment and a dunk tank to give locals the chance to soak civic leaders, teachers, coaches and business owners in the newly-acquired North Bend water.
Other events include a children’s bike parade and fun area, theater productions by Valley Center Stage, beer garden, burger- and donut-eating contest, an art walk and bike contest.
Children will be able to sign the Centennial Birthday Card by drawing their family’s faces. A Celebrity Dog Show and Canine Costume Contest is planned, and the “Almost Strongest Man Event” will be held.
Volunteers are needed. To take part, call coordinator Stacy Cepeda at (425) 888-2777 or e-mail to stacey.Cepeda@encompassnw.org.
