The faces on the North Bend Centennial birthday card will be the Valley's own.

Children are invited to draw the faces of their family onto brightly colored circles of celophane.

Their art will be the basis of the North Bend card, a four-by-eight foot wooden rectangle that will be featured at the Centennial Block Party, Saturday, June 27, in downtown North Bend. The card will also be a float in the grand parade during the Festival at Mount Si, in August.

Birthday card creation times are noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at ACE Hardware, 330 Main Ave. S., North Bend, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the North Bend QFC, 460 E. North Bend Way.

Valley art teachers will be available to help the children draw their faces.

The community event celebrates the past, present and future citizens of North Bend, according to Gina Estep, community development director for the city of North Bend.
