Two memorials are being held for a 14-year-old Snoqualmie student who died of lung cancer this month.

Mount Si High School freshman Morgan Penry will be remembered at memorials being held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Snoqualmie Middle School, and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Sno-Valley Eagles club.

Penry died Thursday, March 12, after a month-long fight with lung cancer. An obituary in Cat Tales, the high school’s student newspaper, remembered her as a loving person with a joy for life.

Penry’s personality “could just totally captivate you,” Snoqualmie Middle School teacher Dean Snavely told the paper.

Penry is survived by her father, Jason, her mother, Heather, her brother, Byron, and her sister, Jordan.

The Eagles memorial will include a potluck dinner and auction to help the Penry family. The band Bad Alibi will reunite for a benefit show at 5 p.m. Auctions of donated items are planned for 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Donations may be made to account no. 26539 at Sno Falls Credit Union.
