SVAL brings classical music to the Valley in April

Classical music lovers and others who enjoy beautiful melodies performed by fine musicians have the chance to spend a delightful afternoon on Sunday, April 3, enjoying Snoqualmie Valley Arts Live's (SVAL) presentation of two talented ensembles featuring the finest musicians from the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra.

Opening the program will be a woodwind quintet playing music by Maurice Ravel and others. The mellow sounds of flute, oboe, bassoon, French horn and clarinet will remind you why the quintet is one of music's favorite groupings. Instrumentalists are Kirsten James, Dan Williams, Mary Kantor, Francine Peterson and Kevin Jones.

The second set is a string trio with Karin Islip, Greg Savage and Rebecca Evans. Their program will include Beethoven's "String Trio in C Minor" and Strauss' "Liebeslieder Waltz" and his "Vienna Bons Bons Waltz."

To conclude the afternoon concert, which promises to be one of SVAL's most memorable performances, the two ensembles will combine to present several small orchestra numbers.

Curtain time is 4 p.m. in the Mount Si High School Theater (8651 Meadowbrook Way S.E., Snoqualmie). Tickets are $15, $10 and $5 and are available at Video Nites in Fall City; Isadora's in Snoqualmie; Nature's Marketplace in North Bend; and at the door the day of the concert. Parking, drinks and cookies are free.

SVAL is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 committee of the Mount Si Alumni Association. Partial funding of the Arts Live series is provided by King County 4Culture.
