Calendar features Snoqualmie espresso stand
Photographer Susan McKeeth's 2007 calendar of unique drive-through espresso stands ranges far beyond the Puget Sound stands that filled her 2006 creation. McKeeth, of Renton, traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest to find stand-out espresso and specialty beverage establishments. Examples of the owners' creativity include several castles, covered wagons and lighthouses. The cover is a huge coffee mug at the base of a mountain in Seward, Alaska. There are 68 photos in all, including railroad-depot-themed Coffee Express-O in Snoqualmie.
In addition to the larger, monthly features, smaller photos of calendar-worthy espresso stands are showcased throughout this 2007 benefit calendar. Proceeds from the calendar will be donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
While continuing her work as a research project interviewer for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington's Cardiovascular Health Research Unit, McKeeth spends much of her spare time and vacation days capturing the true coffee, tea and smoothie serving icons thriving well outside of corporate America.
McKeeth discovered Snoqualmie's Coffee Express-O, located at 7936 Railroad Ave. S.E. and owned by Judy and Troy Hallamore, after visiting a study participant who lives in Snoqualmie.
"I didn't have my camera with me and I instantly knew I wanted to include it in my collection, so I drove back that weekend to get pictures," McKeeth said.
A coffee table book of espresso establishments is in the works and McKeeth encourages anyone who wants their favorite espresso establishment to be considered for inclusion to contact her at email@example.com.
