Fall City retired postmaster passes

Old postmasters never die, they simply change addresses. Fall City lost a prominent citizen last week with the passing of LeRoy Bronemann, 93, retired Fall City postmaster and co-founder of the community's volunteer fire department.
LeRoy was long known for his jovial nature and his tendency to chew the fat with any and all, said his wife of 61 years, Lillie.
He began as postmaster in Fall City Feb. 1, 1940. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in August 1942 and served as a private for 27 months with the 454th Amphibious Truck Co. in the South Pacific.
In 1946, LeRoy and several friends created the first fire department in Fall City.
He had reputation for driving the fire engines at top speed.
"He was one heck of a fireman. I always said he would charge hell with a bucket of water." said retired fire chief Mac Pearson, who joined the department in 1951.
