The Rev. John Ludvik, newly arrived pastor of the parish at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Southeast Alpha Street in Snoqualmie, is helping his congregation prepare for the future while also keeping to the traditions of his new community.

Ludvik, 63, will spend his seventh Sunday as pastor in Snoqualmie this weekend. He assumed the duties of former pastor Father Jan Larson, who has retired and is now assisting the new arrival. Ludvik comes to the Valley from Vancouver, Wash., where he ministered for seven years.

"I'm going to continue building on what he's built," Ludvik said.

Larson is known as a skilled liturgist, organizing the rites of the church.

"I'm happy with all the masses, the music. There's really a sense of reverence," said Ludvik, who doesn't plan to make any changes to the course Larson has set as a newcomer.
