Last week the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe announced the purchase of the Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie.

Tribal officials said they hope to continue the luxury hotel's tradition of excellence but it was too soon to know if they will proceed with the expansion plans of the prior owner.

The Muckleshoot Tribe selected Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality Inc. to manage and operate the Salish. The company has worked with the tribe on other projects and operates 16 luxury resort properties in the state.

The purchase includes the lodge and spa, gift shop and six parcels of land, totaling nearly 48 acres. The purchase price was not disclosed and King County property records had not been updated prior to deadline.

The Snoqualmie Tribe and current managers also bid on the property. Snoqualmie Tribe officials said they thank the Muckleshoots for stepping up to preserve the site, a sacred place to the Snoqualmie people.
