North Bend delays action on ULID plan

The North Bend City Council wants to gather more information before making a decision about a proposal to extend sewer to Tanner, Truck Town and other areas east of the city. The council will next discuss the issue at a work session Tuesday, Oct. 23, but will not vote until the next regular meeting.

The sewer is expected to cost nearly $11.7 million. The cost will be shared by property owners based on the estimated increased value the sewer will bring to each parcel. That value is determined by estimating a property's worth if it were developed to its maximum potential.

Many of the property owners and neighboring citizens who spoke at a public hearing Tuesday, Oct. 2, said those who don't want sewer would be forced to pay thousands of dollars to subsidize developers.
