North Bend hopes to help defray ULID costs

There are several options on the table to make a proposed sewer extension to the Tanner and Truck Town areas more affordable to property owners, who would bear the cost of the $11.7 million project.

North Bend council members last week discussed several staff-proposed revisions

created in response to an Oct. 2 public hearing.

Options include:

* An 80 percent exemption for low-income seniors.

* A temporary deferral for low-income property owners.

* A provision to allow one property owner to loan another money to cover the cost of sewer.

* Allowing property owners to sell the development rights, which would limit future development and reduce the owner's share of sewer costs.
