Freshman scholarships available

The Washington State PTA will award $55,000 in college

scholarships for the 2000-2001 academic year.

Scholarships of $1,000 will be given to freshmen entering

four-year, post-secondary institutions and $500 for those who will attend

community colleges, vo-tech schools or other accredited institutions.

Applicants must be graduates of a Washington state public high

school. These individuals don't need to be current graduates, as long as

they're entering their freshman year. The financial need of the applicant will

be the primary consideration.

Applications are available at high school counseling centers or by

contacting the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation at (253)

565-2153.
