PRESTON - Nine-year-old Megan Hawk of Fall City eagerly awaited the dress rehearsal of the play "Harry Meets Alice" at the Center for Dance in Preston. Performing the role of Rapunzel, she remembered what she thought about the "camp" held at the center before she started there three weeks ago.

"I thought there would be more cabins," she said.

Seemingly out of place in the environs of the Preston/I-90 Industrial Park, the Center for Dance doesn't stand out unless a peek is made inside. Three dance halls are filled with children of all ages and the art they have created in past weeks for a performance.

All the costumes and sets are handmade by the children, with each one able to add their distinctive touch to the drama. The children struggled to keep their voices and movements contained as their teachers and counselors gave them instructions for rehearsal.
