Rising to the occasion

Cub Scout Pack 700 recently passed out small American flags at Safeway in North Bend to mark the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, inspired by the Chief Seattle Council to "Rise in remembrance."

Two posters were displayed at the front of the store, and residents were asked to sign them, which read "Cub Scout Pack 700 and your community 'rise in remembrance' to our local firefighters/policemen this 9/11."

After many people signed the posters, they were delivered to the North Bend fire station and the King County Sheriff's Office substation. Joshua Allen said "it felt good" to honor the police and firefighters, as did the other Scouts.
