SNOQUALMIE - Back in 1973 Elvis was putting on a little weight, kids in high school sported bell-bottomed jeans and platform shoes while Steve Weber, Mike Young and Roy Nudo were in the seventh-grade getting their butts kicked in another basketball game in the Snoqualmie Middle School gymnasium.
"I think one of the scores was 67 to 12, or something like that," remembered Weber. "When we were younger we used to play in that little gym and lose all the time. We were brutal. It's amazing, really, when you think about it, what happened just four years later."
What ensued in March of 1977 made Mount Si High School history.
The three basketball players, then seniors, with the help of a few additional teammates and coaches, found themselves in a jam-packed University of Puget Sound Field House - with most of Fall City's, Snoqualmie's and North Bend's populations also present - about to do the unthinkable: win a state championship.
