Si View opening closer to reality

NORTH BEND - Metropolitan Park District commissioners have cleared their first hurdle in the re-opening process of the Si View Community Center and are hoping that residents will be able to utilize at least part of the facility by late spring.

On March 24, the King County Council approved the transfer of the Si View Community Center and pool to the Si View Metropolitan District. The title transfer was the first challenge facing the park district's commissioners and paves the way for the re-opening of the historic facility.

"These facilities are the heart of community activities and it's good to know there will be a stable place to keep them operating," said King County Councilwoman Kathy Lambert.

King County Councilman David Irons was pleased with the title transfer and said his group would work to preserve such facilities.
