SEATTLE - A June 16 trial date has been set for Shaun Maurer, the former Mount Si High School student accused of assaulting an Issaquah High School student on Jan. 14.
Maurer, 19, has pled not guilty to the charge of second-degree assault that the King County Prosecutor's Office has filed against him. Maurer was arrested and charged after a fight involving up to 100 students from the two high schools left Issaquah High School junior Jason Kauweloa with 100 stitches in his face. Witnesses have said Maurer attacked Kauweloa while Maurer claimed he was acting in self-defense.
If convicted, Maurer could be sentenced to 3-9 months in prison.
