Mount Si prom royalty stands apart from peers

SNOQUALMIE - For being the talk of Mount Si High School for one of the most memorable nights of adolescence, Jordan Prior and Mellissa Baldwin are hesitant to talk about themselves.
The seniors were elected prom king and queen and although they are happy they won, they are a bit surprised and not too eager to talk about themselves. Neither see themselves as the type that are usually crowned prom royalty and were taken aback when the results were announced at the April 26 prom.
"I was surprised," Baldwin said. "I thought they counted wrong."
It's hard to imagine Prior being too surprised his fellow students gave him personal recognition. He is a 4-year wrestler who is as comfortable giving friends a hug as he is putting an opponent in a headlock. In his time at Mount Si, Prior has been a presence on and off the mat and track where he excelled in wrestling and cross-country.
"It's great to get out there early and see Snoqualmie and North Bend when you are running," he said.
