FALL CITY - The King County Fire Protection District No. 27 in Fall City has a new firefighter from the Valley.

After two and a half years of volunteering at the Eastside Fire and Rescue (EFR) station in North Bend, Joe Springer was brought on last month to the Fall City squad.

"I like being able to have a job that makes a difference," Springer said.

Springer started thinking about being a firefighter after talking to some friends about the job. He was studying to get a business degree at Central Washington University, but wanted to get started with the rest of his life a little sooner. With just two quarters left to completion, Springer left school to start training.
