Valley Record earns journalism awards

SNOQUALMIE - The Snoqualmie Valley Record newspaper was honored with several awards at the 2003 Washington Newspaper Publisher's Association's annual Better Newspaper Contest event held earlier this month in Spokane.
In the photography division, Chad Coleman was awarded third place in the Best Scenic/Pictorial Group II category for his black-and-white photo "Long Boarding," along with first place in the Best Photo Essay (color) Group II for his pictorial "Helicopter Logging."
Jim McKiernan took home three awards for his black-and-white photography including third place in the Best Feature Group II category for his shot "Haven't I seen you before?" and third place in the Best Sports Group II category for "Newport Knights run over Wildcats."
Editor Travis Peterson took home two awards: third place for Best General News Story Group II for his story "Students struggle with work exchange," and second place in Best Health/Medical Story for a "Living life to its fullest."
