SNOQUALMIE - Kim Horn was appointed to the Snoqualmie Valley School District's School Board Nov. 18 after a six people were interviewed at that night's school board meeting.

There were seven candidates, but Maggie Schnepf dropped out of the race for "personal reasons."

Each candidate briefly introduced themselves and spoke on what they believed a school board member's job is and what their legacy might be after serving in the position.

The board voted by secret ballot three for Horn, one for Kathryn Lerner.

Horn, the mother of two small boys, was a second-grade teacher at Snoqualmie Elementary before deciding to stay home with her children full time.

She has also volunteered on many district projects and the 2003 bond campaign and sits on the board of directors for the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation.

Horn will fill the vacancy left by resigned board member Dave Reed until Nov. 2005, when another school board election will be held.
