North Bend father and daughter killed in accident

NORTH BEND - North Bend father and daughter Kelly Johnson, 46, and Candi Johnson, 19, were killed in an accident on Highway 18 on Sunday, April 24.

The two were riding a motorcycle eastbound just west of the Hobart-Issaquah Road exit when they were struck by a westbound Chevrolet Impala at approximately 6:54 p.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of the Impala, Scott Stugelmeyer, 23, of Tacoma, lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes. Stugelmeyer and his passenger, Bobby Nichols, 27, of University Place, were wearing seat belts, sustaining only minor injuries and were transported to the Valley Medical Center.

The Washington State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident, but said the roadway was wet and that alcohol was not involved in the accident.

A memorial service for the Johnsons will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave. N.E., Renton, WA.
