NBE gathers money for Katrina victims

North Bend Elementary students raised $3,588.37 for the Red Cross fund for Hurricane Katrina victims. Parent Carol Reitz wanted to help the hurricane victims and thought a fund drive would be a compassionate lesson in philanthropy for the students. Children donated money any way they could, from giving the change in their pockets to selling lemonade or doing odd jobs for neighbors and parents. Teachers also spent time in their classrooms talking about ways to help the hurricane victims.
