To market we go
October 2, 2008 · Updated 9:46 AM
Fall City's community grocery store re-opened Feb. 9 to eager customers. The business, formerly Stevens Family Market, closed Nov. 17 and has been renamed "Farmhouse Market" by its new owner and longtime Fall City resident Jay Bluher.
"I'm glad it's open," said customer Isabela Mailman, adding that when the store was closed, she had to travel to Issaquah or Carnation to buy groceries.
Realizing what an inconvenience it has been not having a grocery store in Fall City, Jay, along with family and friends, worked long hours over the past six weeks to open the Farmhouse Market on schedule. His wife Melissa works at the store and their two children, David, 11, and Annie, 8, have already expressed a strong desire to help out.
"It went very well," said Jay. "Since the doors have been open, everyone has been great."
The building itself has been remodeled, consisting of new and refurbished equipment, fresh paint and new flooring that gives the store a new look.
