A male black bear, estimated to be about 350 pounds, had been sighted crossing Interstate 90 near the Highway 18 interchange for weeks, but it made its last crossing Saturday, May 26.

The bear was struck about 7:20 p.m. by a westbound Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by a 31-year-old Redmond man, at the Highway 18 exit near Snoqualmie Ridge.

The driver wasn't hurt, but his car was totaled.

The bear was severely injured, so wildlife agents dispatched it.

Many black bear sightings have been reported recently in the area.
