People owning land east of North Bend have one chance to convince City Council members whether or not to make property owners pay for a proposed sewer extension to the Tanner and Truck Town areas.

A public hearing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, to form a utility district to pay for the sewer extension. The hearing will take place at 7 p.m. in the North Bend City Council meeting room at the Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave. S.

By state law, the formation of a Utility Local Improvement District must be preceded by a public hearing. In 2005, property owners representing 50 percent of the land area in the proposed ULID - which roughly extends from the city's irregular eastern boundary to the Tanner and Truck Town areas and includes neighborhoods in between - petitioned the city to start the process to create a ULID.
