Facilities group to study bond options

The original 20 people who recommended last spring's unsuccessful Snoqualmie school bond proposition are headed back to the meeting table.
On Thursday, Sept. 27, the Snoqualmie Valley School District Board of Directors re-charged the Facilities Task Force, which originally formed in March of 2006, with orders to come back by early December with a set of prioritized recommendations on a future bond.
School district superintendent Joel Aune said it's up to the task force to decide whether to start from scratch, stick to the same set of recommendations as last year, or do a bit of both.
The original group is coming back, Aune said, because they've studied the growth issues in depth and are involved and connected with the community.
"They have a good sense of what the community perspective is on this," Aune said. "There were some lessons learned, as well."
A totally new group, on the other hand, would need extra time to get up to speed on issues surrounding a new bond. Extra time is something the district doesn't have.
