Area officials seek flood improvements
As the one-year anniversary of the November 2006 flood approaches, efforts to make improvements are underway.
* Despite being listed in the floodway, parts of downtown Snoqualmie remained dry. To correct the apparent disparity between maps and real life, the city of Snoqualmie is seeking to change the boundary of the city's floodway.
* Local elected officials advising the King County Flood Control Zone District have voiced their support for a 10-cent property tax levy to fix the county's ailing flood protection facilities.
* A new study conducted on behalf of King County determined that a shutdown of economic activity in King County's floodplains would cost the region at least $46 million every day.
