Wanted: 600 signatures for park district
October 2, 2008 · Updated 9:19 AM
Within just a few minutes of arriving at Fall City's Farmhouse Market, Perry Wilkins had already picked up a handful of signatures on the clipboard in his hand.
It was a promising start for Wilkins, who, as co-founder of Friends of Fall City Parks, is one of about 30 Valley residents gathering signatures in support of a proposed Fall City Park District.
Friends of Fall City Parks recently began efforts to create the district, with goals of creating new parks in Fall City and gaining ownership of Fall City Park, which King County currently owns.
The group needs 600 signatures to put the issue on the November election ballot this year. To that end, the Friends will be visible at events in Fall City this month, clipboards at the ready.
