Garcia to stay - for now

North Bend City Councilman Chris Garcia, who had planned to resign from the Council in late February, told the Valley Record he will stay on for another month or two as the city faces an appeal to new water rights.

Ewing Stringfellow, who runs a cattle ranch and Christmas tree farm outside North Bend, appealed the lifting of the water moratorium that has stunted the city's growth for almost a decade. The city is negotiating an out-of-court settlement with Stringfellow, according to Mayor Ken Hearing.
